The City Couriers Group recognises the importance of supporting local communities, thereby giving back to our society and
assisting those in need. 1% of net profit after tax is pledged annually to various charitable initiatives, allocated as follows:- 70% humanitarian, 20%
Conservation, 10% to Arts and Cultural initiatives. In addition we are committed to staff health care through regular HIV clinic visits, workshops and
wellness programs which have been most effective in both prevention and treatment of the illness.
A major community project that City Couriers supports on an on-going basis is the Abalindi Welfare Society in Inanda, KZN. The Centre comprises of an old aged home,
frail care centre, hospice, crèche and children’s home. Approximately 200 individuals are assisted on a daily basis. With a hands on approach, City Couriers has
contributed significantly towards improving the Centre on many levels and establishing an Educational and Recreational Centre in 2011.
City Couriers is fully committed to environmental awareness and planet preservation. We have an active and on-going Green Fleet Program in place, which aims to further reduce carbon emissions emitted from our fleet, year on year. This is achieved through reducing kilometres driven, strict driver training programs and effective fuel savers installed on all vehicles. We are committed to protecting our environment at all times in our organisation and further protecting our environment through new and innovative technology.
Environmental awareness is also encouraged at all City Couriers depots through actively recycling paper, plastic, glass, tetrapak and tins on a weekly basis, thus reducing impact on land-fills and destruction of rain forests. A national light replacement program was launched in 2012 to replace all warehouse and office lighting with energy efficient lights in conjunction with Eskom initiatives. This will result in further reduction of CO2 emissions and reduction in tree felling.
